Play to design - weaving game design into intimate AI interfaces

The beginning of every new technological era is an opportunity for designers to rethink the status quo relationship with computers. Agatha will discuss how this new wave of generative AI offers us a more flexible dynamic with computers. As software designers, we should rethink the interaction metaphors and fuse different crafts (games, interaction design, animation) for inspirations. She will look into examples in games to borrow for software design:
• World building – onboarding / learning
• NPCs – character / agents / behaviour design
• Natural affordances
She’ll discuss how computers will shift from optimising responsiveness to celebrating attentiveness – moving from a reactive tool with command & control interaction into proactive agents that has real time awareness and meaningful behaviours.

About Agatha

Agatha focuses on designing computer experiences that empower humans with new perspectives. Her work continues to evolve how different 0 to 1 products bring together software and hardware. Along the way, she assembled and grew design teams to dive into AI, spatial computing and procedural experiences.

She is currently managing a design team at the Human Interface department in one of the largest consumer hardware/software companies. Previously, she was at Valve, Oculus and Adobe.
